OPEN DICTIONARY
What is the English language becoming. Most of you are familiar with the Olde English and several derivatives of such. Hereto I spoke unto thee from hence forth we shall be speaking Weebish.
It is hard to read the Olde English and would have been even harder for a modern day scholar to even understand the spoken language 500 years ago.
So that brings us to the modern day. What is happening to our language. I hear so many small cultures trying to protect their past by preserving the language. Is this what is happening to English. Will we even be able to communicate to our future generations say 500 years in the future.
I would venture to say that even 30 years ago would be difficult for us.
Sooner or later words like googling or tweeting is going to end up in the conversation and a person from 30 years ago would have no idea what you were talking about.
What scares me more than anything is not that the English language is changing; But the direction it is changing.
Twitterific, googling, and so many more words that to me sound like toddler talk.
